祝大家 2026 年國際醫檢師節快樂！
如大家所知，國際醫檢師節是我們慶祝並推廣醫檢專業的重要契機。今年，我們持續聚焦於「臨床診斷的永續發展」，儘管當今世界正處於充滿嚴峻挑戰的時刻。
過去一年來，氣候變遷的衝擊日益顯著。極端氣候、氣溫攀升與環境惡化已不再是遙不可及的隱憂，而是直接影響著我們的醫療照護系統。與此同時，全球局勢的動盪與持續不斷的公衛挑戰，亦不斷考驗著全球各地醫學實驗室的韌性。
在這樣的背景下，醫事檢驗師（Biomedical Laboratory Scientists）的角色比以往任何時刻都更為重要。
我們身處醫療診斷服務的核心，我們的工作更是幾乎所有醫療決策的基石。不僅如此，我們亦是全球應對行動的重要一環——我們必須在提供高品質病患診斷服務、肩負環境責任，以及維持系統韌性之間取得平衡。作為世界衛生組織（WHO）新倡議「全球診斷聯盟（Global Diagnostics Coalition）」的參與者，國際醫事檢驗師聯盟（IFBLS）將持續致力於提升大眾對診斷與檢驗服務的認知，彰顯其在達成「全民健康涵蓋（Universal Health Coverage）」目標中不可或缺的地位。
全球危機同時也暴露出供應鏈與人力資源短缺的問題。試劑、耗材與設備的匱乏，不斷提醒著我們建立具備永續性與韌性採購機制的重要性。身為醫事檢驗師，我們的專業知識是做出明智決策的關鍵；我們不僅需考量檢驗品質與效能，更必須兼顧對環境與倫理的影響。
在這個充滿不確定性的時代，我們作為領導者與傳承者的角色顯得格外重要。透過知識的分享、同儕間的相互支持，以及推廣負責任的文化，我們能確保將「永續發展」深植於日常的實驗室工作中。
我們在實驗室中所做的每一個選擇——包括我們如何運用資源、如何推動創新，以及如何發揮領導力——都將匯聚成一股更廣泛的力量，共同應對氣候變遷與全球公衛的挑戰。
只要我們攜手同心，定能確保醫事檢驗科學在持續進步的同時，亦能兼顧全人類與我們地球的健康。

Happy BLS Day 2026 to everyone!
As you know, International BLS Day gives us an important opportunity to celebrate and promote our profession. This year, we continue to highlight sustainability in clinical diagnostics, and we do so in a world facing many severe challenges. Over the past year, the impact of climate change has become even more visible. Extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and environmental degradation are no longer distant concerns—they are affecting healthcare systems directly. At the same time, global instability and ongoing public health challenges have tested the resilience of laboratories worldwide. In this context, the role of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists has never been more important. We are at the core of diagnostic services, and our work underpins nearly every medical decision. But beyond that, we are also part of a larger global response—one that must balance high-quality patient diagnostics with environmental responsibility and system resilience. As part of a new WHO initiative: the Global Diagnostics Coalition, IFBLS will continue to work to raise awareness of the essential role of diagnostics and diagnostic services for achievement of universal health coverage. Global crises can also highlight shortages in supply chains and work force capacity. Shortages of reagents, consumables, and equipment will remind us of the importance of sustainable and resilient procurement practices. As Biomedical Laboratory Scientists, our expertise is vital in making informed choices that consider not only quality and performance, but also environmental and ethical impact. In times of uncertainty, our role as leaders and mentors becomes even more important. By sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and promoting a culture of responsibility, we can help ensure that sustainability is embedded in everyday laboratory work. The choices we make in our laboratories—how we use resources, how we innovate, and how we lead—contribute to a broader effort to address climate change and global health challenges. Together, we can ensure that Biomedical Laboratory Science continues to advance in a way that supports both human health and the health of our planet.
